Supporting diversity in the architectural profession: developing a climate of success for disabled designers

The University of the West of England is carrying out research on behalf of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). The aims are to identify good practice in the architectural profession that facilitates equal opportunities for disabled people as entrants and practitioners in the profession as well as raising the profile of disabled architects and celebrating existing successes.

The RIBA consider that there are strong arguments for encouraging disabled people to become designers and for finding mechanisms to support architects who acquire disabilities during their working lives.

Online questionnaire

The researchers are looking for responses from the following disabled people:

  • architects
  • students of architecture
  • people who embarked on an architecture course or career in architecture but did not complete
  • people who considered a career in architecture, but were deterred from pursuing this ambition.

Fill in the questionnaire at the link below or pass on the details to anyone else who may be interested.
