Skill Membership

Publications and communication

Skill Newsletter

Up-to-date information on changes in legislation, forthcoming events and new publications. Published three times a year for corporate and individual professional members. 

Skill Scotland E-Newsletter

Termly e-mail newsletter keeping disabled students across Scotland in touch with news and events on disability and post-school learning. The newsletter also contains a section for staff in colleges, universities and other organisations who support disabled learners, with useful information on policy, legislation and staff training and events.

Each edition includes an article from a disabled student, job-seeker or volunteer.

Skill Journal

In-depth articles on good practice and research. Published three times a year for corporate and individual professional members. Members can also choose to subscribe to Notes and Quotes 

Notes and Quotes

A lively, informative bulletin of news and views. Published three times a year for student organisations and individual student, trainee and jobseeker members. Members can also choose to subscribe to the Newsletter and Journal.

Services

Information Service

Free information and advice for disabled people and those working with them, on post-16 opportunities including further and higher education, entry to employment, work-based learning and volunteering. Opening hours:

England and Wales: Tuesdays 11.30am-1.30pm and Thursdays 1.30-3.30pm.

Scotland: Tuesdays and Thursdays 11.00am - 1.00pm and Wednesdays 2.00-4.00pm.

How do I join or renew my subscription?

If you are an existing member you should have received a letter and pro-forma invoice with the member contact details form.  If you haven't received your renewal pack yet please contact us on 020 7450 0620 (voice) or email vivek@skill.org.uk.

The membership year runs from September to August.

All prices include VAT - NB these are subject to a 2.5% VAT increase from 1 January 2011.

Corporate Membership

UK college, university or school

  • Institutions with more than 1000 students - £352.50 *#
  • Institutions with between 100 and 1000 students - £293.75 *#
  • Institutions with under 100 students - £117.50

UK employer, union or professional body

  • More than 1000 staff members - £352.50 *#
  • Between 100-1000 staff members - £258.50 *#
  • With less than 100 staff members - £117.50

Other

  • Education or careers or support service - £117.50
  • Student organisation - £117.50
  • Organisation of/for disabled people - £117.50
  • Local authority or public body - £352.50 *#
  • Overseas institutional member - £117.50

Individual Membership

  • Individual professional member - £61.30
  • Corporate professional (where employer is a member in one of the * categories) - £47.00
  • Individual disabled student, trainee or jobseeker - free
  • Overseas professional member - £117.50
  • Overseas disabled student, trainee or jobseeker - £75.20
     

Members of *# categories receive an additional copy of the Skill Journal

Skill is a company limited by guarantee. This means that in the unlikely event of it being wound up, members could be liable to pay £1.00
