Blind/Partially Sighted

Association of Blind and Partially Sighted Teachers and Students (ABAPSTAS)

The only national organisation of visually impaired people which focuses on education and employment issues. ABAPSTAS is a self-help and campaigning organisation and its members include people who have moved into careers other than teaching.

Action for Blind People

An expert national organisation providing free and confidential support for blind and partially sighted people in all aspects of their lives. Offers practical support, advice, holiday breaks and children’s sports clubs to visually impaired people throughout the UK. Also run the Actionnaires Sports clubs - free multi-sports sessions run by professional coaches for blind and partially sighted children and young people of all abilities.

Cue and Review
Cue & Review Recording Service provide a range of 22 different magazines and newspapers on audio tape free of charge to the visually and reading impaired.

Parent2Parent Network
A new online service for parents and guardians of deaf children, launched by the National Deaf Children’s Society (NDCS) and the NHS Newborn Hearing Screening Programme (NHSP).

It allows parents and guardians of deaf children to search and contact other families with deaf children in their local area or across the UK. Searches can be made by location, age of child, the level of the child’s hearing loss and the preferred language of the parents.
